On Saturdays the hostel heads out as a group to Juan Curí, on the San Gil–Charalá road in the municipality of Páramo. Some come just for the walk; others arrive itching to hang off a rope.

The trail climbs through forest and wet stones, the roar of water getting closer, until the falls appear all at once with a cold spray that soaks your face even if you never step in.

The rappel is run by on-site operators with their own gear and guides. If you'd rather not go down the wall, the hike and a dip are worth the trip on their own.

What it feels like

A morning of mud, laughs and icy water, with the optional rush of lowering yourself down the falls.

Ideal for

  • Meeting people from the hostel
  • Nature without a dawn start
  • A first rappel
  • Waterfall photos

What we don't know yet

We'd rather say so than make it up. The team confirms these with the operator:

  • What the Saturday plan includes (transport, entry, rappel)
  • Total duration
  • Minimum age for the rappel
  • What happens if it rains

Ask the front desk

  • Is the rappel optional and paid separately?
  • Do we all leave the hostel together at 10:00?
  • Which shoes and clothes do you recommend?
  • Can I just do the hike?

Safety & season

Slippery rocks and changing water flow: wear grippy shoes and only rappel with the on-site operator's gear and guides. After heavy rain, check first.
